Digitas’ UK CEO Dani Bassil today announced that Matt Holt is to join her new executive team as Chief Strategy Officer UK from the end of January.
Holt, who will report into Bassil, is a seasoned all-round marketing strategist with depth in customer experience, digital and data. He has an impeccable track record of delivering the highest quality of thinking for a diverse range of clients including BA, GSK, EY, Nestlé and American Express. At Digitas he will be responsible for developing the agency’s strategic capability, working with key clients and building out the connected marketing offering, alongside other key players in the agency.
The announcement marks a sea change seen in recent months at Digitas under the leadership of Bassil, and follows the recent news of Emma De La Fosse’s appointment as Chief Creative Officer to kick start a new era of executive leadership. At the same time Gregor McQuattie and Rafe Blandford, currently part of the Digitas family, will be promoted to Managing Director and the newly created position of Chief Product Officer (CPO), respectively. The new team will all be in place from February 2019, with McQuattie and Blandford taking up their new roles with immediate effect.
Holt said, “This is a fantastic opportunity. Having worked closely with Emma in the past, I know she’s the real deal. Dani is an impressive leader and Gregor and Rafe have great reputations. Digitas is shaping up to be a force to be reckoned with in 2019. The agency has a real buzz and that’s down to Dani’s leadership. I can’t wait to get started.”
Dani Bassil, CEO Digitas UK, said: “This is, without doubt, an exciting time for Digitas. Matt is an energetic leader and an incredible strategic thinker. Throw Gregor, Rafe and Emma into the mix and it’s quite a team! I couldn’t ask for a group of more talented and passionate people to work with and I’m over the moon that we start 2019 on the front foot. This marks the next step in ensuring we create wonderful digital experiences for our clients and their customers, and the next exciting chapter in our development as an agency.”
McQuattie, who joined Digitas at the end of 2017 as part of the Sky team, has a strong grounding in business and client management, with a background in pure-play digital shops including Tribal DDB, Wunderman and most recently SapientRazorfish. His new role as MD at Digitas will see him take responsibility for the day- to-day running of the agency as well as overseeing the client services team.
Blandford is a tech savvy, empathetic leader who has a wealth of experience in strategy and experience design delivery; specialising in mobile and emerging technologies. He has been part of the Digitas stable for four and half years, starting as a mobile strategist and rising through ranks in the technology team to spearhead the mobile engagement strategy, and most recently leading the delivery of Formula 1’s new digital products across web and mobile. As Digitas’ first CPO, Blandford will be responsible for ensuring the agency remains at the cutting edge of product design.
