Senior Planner

OVERVIEW

This Senior Planner/Junior Strategy Director will be a strategic generalist, with experience across several planning disciplines including brand planning and digital/CRM planning. A background in Clientside, Social & PR will be considered too.

You will currently be working as a senior in the planning space, and be looking to take the next step with your planning and strategy career. In this role, you will be the engine room on the pieces of business you’re on, either leading them or working as part of a bigger team to deliver.

Responsibilities

  • The overall strategic lead on several commercially important pieces of business 
  • Able to set strategic direction, working with a broader team of multi-disciplinary strategists
  • Write creative briefs that contain genuine insights 
  • Be a professional, thoughtful and constructive presence with clients
  • Collaborate with various Digitas teams, bringing colleagues with you and helping identify opportunities to do better work
  • Potential to manage more junior strategists depending on experience 
  • Helping to strengthen the reputation of the Digitas strategy team with clients, the wider agency, the Groupe and the outside world. 
  • Able to develop a profile within the agency as the ‘go-to’ expert on a particular subject/field, in keeping with the Strategy department’s need for brilliant generalist understanding

Essential

You will be skilled in the following:

  • Problem definition - what’s the ‘real’ problem the client faces?
  • Lateral thinking - using the broadest possible amount of sources to make an instinctive leap, grounded in commercial thinking
  • Useful, actionable thinking - able to bring your thinking to life using data
  • Able to blend old & new - knowing just when to apply classic planning approaches vs. a more innovative approach
  • A master briefer & brief writer - sentences should be as sharp as steel
  • Obsessed with effectiveness – a Planner who goes beyond mere efficiencies to build frameworks that will help the work, work!

Desirable

  • To have lead integrated pitches, writing the strategy
  • To have a proven effectiveness track record in business results
  • To have a strong, published point of view about industry news, or a particular interest
