To help with this, we’re looking for an outstanding Senior Data Engineer—someone who can design and build elegant, state-of-the-art solutions to meet our client’s data needs. Sound like you? Read on.

 

What you’ll do:  

 

The Data Engineering team collaborates across Digitas to implement stable, automated, and advanced data solutions. Data engineers work with analysts to simplify their media reporting needs through third-party API integrations and custom data lake implementations on AWS or GCP. Data Engineers also partner with Data Science teams to build complex solutions that collect real-time streams of site data, automate machine learning models, and send results to third-party activation platform APIs.

 

As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll manage the implementation of various data pipelines for our client projects.

 

Day to day your role includes:

  • Working with data engineers to implement production-grade data pipelines and ETL processes to support leading-edge analytics and big data processing
  • Analyzing high-level business requirements and project architecture to determine and estimate development activities
  • Keeping up on the latest AWS/GCP tools that would be appropriate for new or existing projects
  • Working with vendor development teams to guide integrations and resolve technical issues
  • Evaluating and testing new data transformation tools that can be leveraged to solve client needs
  • Writing ETL code that you will unit test, document, and deploy to cloud computing platforms like AWS or GCP
  • Partnering with the Business Analysis and Data Science teams to determine ETL requirements and test scenarios
  • Guiding associate data engineers to adhere to best practices and principles
  • Researching third-party API documentation to determine implementation guidelines
  • Collaborating with DevOps to build repeatable and sustainable infrastructures

 

 

We’re looking for strong, impactful work experience, which typically includes:

  • Mastery in at least one cloud computing platform such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Expertise in cloud data management tools: AWS (Lambda, Data Pipeline, Glue) or GCP (Dataflow, Google APIs)
  • Proficiency in relational databases
  • Knowledge of backend programming languages (Java or Python preferred)
  • A solid grasp of version control systems and strategies
  • Experience in implementing service-oriented architecture
  • An understanding of DevOps activities and their role in the SDLC
  • Some experience with non-relational databases
  • Experience with shell scripts and command line tools
  • Experience in build and dependency management tools such as Maven
  • Experience with cloud security products (IAM)
  • Experience with cloud databases (BigQuery, RedShift)
  • Experience using issue tracking and knowledge base software for project tracking
  • AWS or GCP Data Engineering Certification (is a bonus)
  • Experience with deployment tools including Jenkins (is a bonus)
  • Experience with Scala (is a bonus)
  • Familiarity with data science concepts (is a bonus)
  • A background in the marketing/advertising industry (is also a plus)
