To help with this, we’re looking for an outstanding Data Scientist/Advanced Analytics Lead for a senior role to drive that transformation with our Media team – someone with a background in both strategy and analytics with an understanding of how the two work together. Sound like you? Read on…

What You’ll Do

This is a collaborative role working alongside the media strategists and analysts to execute multi-brand strategies for a large consumer product client. Having a strong background and understanding of data-driven marketing, this person will be responsible for executing analytical projects alongside a lead Technical Analyst, Optimisation Lead and Data Engineering Lead to drive the multi-channel media planning and performance. As this role is across multiple projects, the ability to manage workload and expectations is critical.

Key Responsibilities

This role requires a good understanding of all phases of the analytic process including data collection, preparation, and modelling, evaluation, and insight generation. The creative use of data / data sources is a must, the candidate should not only have a strong analytical mind but also to be resourceful when it comes to solving problems with limited initial data.

The candidate need to demonstrate substantial expertise in the use of machine learning and statistical techniques. Skills in deep learning, data mining, knowledge extraction and graph theory are also highly desirable. A number of years of commercial experience, and demonstrated success in roles requiring technical leadership and technical direction setting skills are highly desirable.

Skills/Requirements

  • Master’s degree or above in programming field (e.g. Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning) or numerate field (e.g. Applied Statistics, Physics, Engineering)
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience with programming languages such as R, Python or equivalent
  • Experience with both descriptive and predictive analytic techniques including clustering, regression, classification methods, etc. (Data Mining /Machine Learning)
  • Ideally, experience managing a small team of data scientists
  • Able to design robust advanced analytic approaches through data extraction, integration, analysis, modelling and visualisation across a range of both on and off-line data sources (website, social, mobile, customer, financial) for Marketing purposes
  • Advanced data manipulation skills using SQL based databases
  • Experience building customer-level marketing and analytic tools including customer segmentation and performing attribution modelling, media mix modelling, statistics/econometrics
  • Experience working with Big Data, including cloud based and open source technologies such as Apache Hadoop (including HBase, Hive, Mahout and Pig), Amazon Web Services and/or ideally use of Google Big Query and Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience in NoSQL technologies like MongoDB or Graph Databases (e.g. Neo4J) preferred
  • Experience with data visualisation and analytic techniques using tools such as Python/R (for visualisation purposes), Tableau, d3.js, gephi
  • Experience in Text Mining, Natural Language Processing
  • Experience working for a FMCG company on the client or agency side preferred
  • Some knowledge of Marketing Analytics solutions including Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics and BrandWatch preferred
