– DigitasLBi designed two commemorative posters to celebrate Wilco’s hometown performance in Chicago on August 21, 2016.
– Wilco played new tracks and hit songs at the iconic Jay Pritzker Pavilion bandshell located inside Chicago’s Millennium Park. The artistic posters were heavily influenced by the Pavilion’s design and designer, architect Frank Gehry.
– The first poster (left) was a large 24″x36″ rendering of the actual performance with steel panels atop the Pavilion reformed to spell the band’s name.
– The second (below right), a standard 24″x18″, featured an interpretive rendering of the trellis spelling Wilco’s name, and evoked Gehry’s contemporary and utilitarian design.
– Both posters were printed as multi-color silkscreens and sold out quickly during the performance.
– DigitasLBi’s designs will return to
Chicago once more this summer with a unique optical illusion. The poster will commemorate Andrew Bird’s performance at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion bandshell on September 7, 2016.
