In 2020, Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD) introduced an all-digital checking account in response to COVID-19 challenges in the UAE. This service allowed residents to manage finances from home, without salary transfers or minimum balances.

Insight

The pandemic required a shift to digital banking solutions, enabling consumers to access their cash safely from home.

The Work

CBD launched the first "lockdown banking" solution in the UAE, allowing residents to download, set up, and activate a Mastercard-powered debit account in minutes. The initiative aimed to enhance financial accessibility during the pandemic.

CBD used automated, tailored content based on 18 data points to communicate effectively with users. By understanding interactions with the CBD app, they customized content at every touchpoint, testing 3,000 ad variations and multiple journey combinations to find what resonated with consumers. Data analysis drove consumer engagement.

As accounts increased, look-alike modeling identified the right audience and channels for targeted messages.
