What's it like to do a work placement at our agency?
This July, five female students, aged between 15-17, joined us for a two week work placement in partnership with Next Tech Girls. Each day, the students spent time in a different area of the agency, learning from experts from across our capabilities. Hereβs what they thought of their working experience, shared on LinkedIn:
"I gained valuable experience in the fields of technology and marketing with NextTechGirls at Digitas UK. From coding to digital marketing, I learnt skills from collaboration, adaptability to innovation. The transformative power of technology, marketing, and media is undeniable. I look forward to continuing my learning and making a lasting impact. Thank you to Gemma Daly, Hannah McCormack, Charlotte Needham at Digitas UK, and Emily Hall-Strutt at Next Tech Girls for this unforgettable opportunity!" - Annabella
"Over the past few weeks, I have been at Digitas UK completing some work experience through Next Tech Girls. π©βπ» In my work experience with technology, marketing, and media, I have had the opportunity to be part of amazing and fun projects in the tech industry, contributing to software development and user interface design. Additionally, my involvement in media involved content creation and storytelling, where I honed my skills in writing, editing, and visual communication. π£ The convergence of these industries has shown me the power of technology in amplifying marketing efforts and the role of media in shaping public opinion. π Looking ahead, I am excited to continue this journey in the future, embracing emerging technologies, forging connections, and telling inspiring stories that resonate with audiences worldwide." - Kayla
"For my first-ever #workexperience, I found Digitas UK π¦ through Next Tech Girls with the help of Emily Hall-Strutt for two weeks. I have always been interested in tech π» and coding, and my placement here has made me sure that I want to continue in this industry in the future! During this time, I have been helped greatly by Gemma Daly, Rafe Blandford, & Sarah Plant, who all took time during their busy schedules to support me with anything I needed. Here at #Digitas, I learnt about AR, VR & AI with Sasha Jiang, who very enthusiastically let us into her life of design and tech. I also had the ability to venture into the world of data and strategy π, which Erin Johnson, Sarah Opokiti & Tia Patel explained to me with great detail. They also gave me the chance to hear their stories of how they got into their jobs at Digitas, and each one was unique and inspirational. They kindly taught me about apprenticeships and the incredible opportunities they'd been given with apprenticeships and told all the details - from thinking of applying to getting the job. I had a motivating session with Kevin Mar-Molinero on #accessibility in tech and helped me realize how difficult it was for many people to use the #technology we so commonly use without thought today, which I had never even considered before. He helped me discover a new field in which I now am regarding working in the future. He also gave me countless tips and advice on how to get the job I want in the future and what to do to improve my knowledge of it, also giving me book titles! I also had a fun day with Mary Osei-Gyau on data administration, in which I was able to improve my knowledge of SQL, and she helped further explain and debunk stereotypes of data being a hard and difficult profession. Hannah McCormack and Charlotte Needham have helped me greatly in understanding the working world - understanding policies and the benefits of networking. Digitas has greatly assisted with my plans for the future, opening doors and paving pathways I had not known about before, or topics I didn't previously care for, and teaching me about new job titles, roles & giving me advice. It is an awesome place to work in, my first work experience - definitely one I will remember!" - Aiman
"My experience at #ai #technology #work #experience #learning #career #jobs #tech Digitas UK! I started my work experience at Digitas on the 3rd of July, and I've learned a lot during these two weeks! I've learned about jobs the industry offers, jobs I haven't even heard about. Everyone I spoke to told me how they ended up at Digitas, and everyone took completely different routes, so learning that was a great learning experience for me. A few of my favorite days were when Sasha Jiang presented a session on AI, AR, and VR. I learned about how AI is constantly improving and how AR can be used to create new accessibility devices. We also had a brief chat on the importance of having laws in Tech and AI/ VR. I spoke with Kevin Mar-Molinero, who spoke further about accessibility in Technology. I learned that there are principles you must follow to make your designs inclusive. His passion for making tech accessible and diverse really inspired me to start a career in technology!" - Dilayla
