Challenge
The internet has turned online beauty shopping into a discount demolition derby. The result? A sterile, scroll-and-click experience that strips the soul out of beauty shopping: no expert advice, no tactile discovery, no joy. Just a box on your doorstep that smells like packing tape.
Insight
For Sephora, this was personal. Sephora knew beauty shoppers deserved so much better. But while online shopping was winning the transaction, Sephora could win the experience. The key was not getting products to the door, but getting people to the products.
On Amazon Prime Day, Sephora and Lyft announced an audacious partnership, Delivered to Beauty. Discounted rides to Sephora stores across five major U.S. cities. Instead of scrolling phone screens to pick-up unexciting essentials, Sephora was delivering beauty lovers to the source.
Lyft vehicles were wrapped in Sephora's signature black-and-white stripes and deployed across city streets. In-app takeovers, map overlays, and video content inside Lyft turned every ride into a pre-store beauty moment. Social activations, influencer participation, and live events shared moments of discovery, emphasizing the power of IRL beauty shopping even further. Promo codes gave riders a reason to go, and the samples, exclusive promotions, and in-store VIP treatment gave them a reason to stay.
