Practicing good hygiene habits is the best way to keep kids healthy and attending school. So, how do you make an important issue like hygiene education engaging for kids?

Insight

Millions of South African children miss school every year due to illnesses that can be easily avoided with healthy hygiene habits. Unilever wanted to help break the chain of infection – by turning hygiene education into a super fun game for kids to play!

Meet The Hygiene Heroes

What better way to engage kids than with games? We created Hygiene Heroes, an e-learning platform that gamified hygiene education. Parents and teachers registered kids online to get them started, and after watching educational videos, the kids were awarded with increasingly challenging, germ-busting games.

Gamefication

To advance to the next level, they needed to complete a hygiene quiz – and, while they were busy learning about healthy hygiene habits, they were also having fun competing against each other, earning virtual coins, and doing their best to get to the top of the Hygiene Heroes leaderboard.
