Overview
Associate Director, Social Strategy
As an Associate Director, Social Strategy, you will play a key leadership role on our team, guiding the development and execution of breakthrough social strategies and team structures across a high-profile client in the Retail space. This is a rare opportunity for a true T-shaped strategist—someone who combines deep expertise in social media with broad fluency in creative ideation, and client management/consultation.
Job Responsibilities
You’re the right person for this role if:
- You thrive in the grey and can lead without handholding
- You’re a bit of a “planager,” able to merge client management with strategic prowess
- Collaboration, collaboration, collaboration. Whether it’s working across teams (especially data, commerce, production), with clients, or with the IAT, you’re a team player
- You love providing mentorship and guidance to junior team members, helping to elevate the team’s overall strategic output
- You can speak to Social and Influencer strategies and campaigns equally, having activated both
- You’re resourceful – able to get help from the right folks on the team or figure out the right tools to get you what you need (working smarter, not harder)
- You keep a firm pulse on pop culture, emerging platforms, and digital trends—identifying new opportunities for brands to lead, not follow
Day-to-day, your role includes:
- Diving deep into social listening insights to unlock opportunity audiences and social communities for our brand
- Serving as a trusted advisor and consult to clients and deftly managing relationships
- Collaborating with social and influencer leads to push the social and influencer practice, contributing to team structure development and ways of working
- Translating social and cultural insights into compelling creative briefs and big ideas that push brands into cultural relevance
- Developing and executing integrated social and content strategies that drive engagement, brand love, and measurable results
- Partnering closely with creative, influencer, and analytics teams to deliver cohesive programs and insights
- Keeping a firm pulse on pop culture, emerging platforms, and digital trends—identifying new opportunities for brands to lead, not follow
Qualifications
We’re looking for impactful experience, which typically includes:
- 6–8 years of digital and social experience—agency, brand, or publisher-side—ideally with a mix of content, creative, influencer and campaign leadership
- Exceptional client management skills—adept at navigating complex organizations and building trust
- Driving strong relationships and collaboration across an IAT
- Experience understanding how to navigate the nuances of a dated brand with many siloes
- Expert level ability leveraging social listening and insight tools to unlock a social community (Quid/Brand Watch, platform-specific insights tools i.e. TikTok Creator Search Insights, Reddit Answers, Facebook Audience Insights, Spate, StatSocial)
- A strong track record for driving creative campaigns from insight to execution, especially those rooted in cultural or social trends
- Deep understanding of the social media landscape across legacy and emerging platforms, with a passion for staying ahead of what’s next
- Experience crafting creative briefs and inspiring breakthrough ideation
- Demonstrated ability to build and implement social playbooks, frameworks, or best practices for large brands
- Expertise in organic social, with high familiarity and sophistication in paid amplification, including influencer strategy and measurement
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a knack for storytelling and persuasive presentations
- A collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset and a passion for mentoring others
